Sprint 1A Review
Sprint 1A was the start of Section 1 of Junior Production II at Champlain College and the beginning for Glass Cannon Games! Our team was comprised of a programmer named Richard Bourdelais, an artist named Zoe Hammonds, a producer by the name of Charlie Grabber, with David Carey and myself as the designers of the team.
What went right?
While we had not known much about each other previously, we were all strangers that decided to form together as a team to produce. Initially, we all had that little bit of awkwardness of getting to know one another, but we were able to overcome it and get down to business. Everyone was respectful of each other and everyone accepted criticism quite well. Work wise, every member of the group was able to produce the necessary documentations and assets to develop the game that would eventually be called Cat Noir.
What went wrong?
Communication went down towards the end of the sprint. The designers were unable to communicate effectively with the rest of the team. Strained communications lead to some confusion on the direction that the game was heading in. Ultimately the designers were able to get reorganized with the rest of the team to get the project back on track.
What could have been done better?
As previously mentioned, communication was a big issue that was talked about during the in-person sprint review and it was one of the main factors that everyone agreed on that could be a huge source of improvement now and in the future. It was also decided that additional meetings in-person and via Discord would benefit all the members of the group for progress reports.
